There are many factors that need to be considered before you select the right crane for your lifting operation. The working radius (the distance between the centre of the slewing area of the crane and the centre of the item being lifted) and the weight of the item being lifted are just two of the key elements required. However, these two elements are far from the only deciding factors.

Ellis Crane Hire can provide services in accordance with L.O.L.E.R. 1998 and B.S.7121-1:2006 the safe use of cranes. Our services can be tailored to suite your requirements.

Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L.O.L.E.R.) 1998 states that all lifting operations should undergo a degree of planning to create a safe system of work. An appointed person (AP) should ensure that the correct capacity cranes are used and the lifts are supervised. A method statement, a risk assessment and lift plan should also be produced and a banksman or slinger should be employed. They should also ensure the necessary insurance cover is in place.

Crane hire or contract lift?

The C.P.A (contractors plant-hire association) is an industry standard that Ellis Crane Hire is proud to be a member of. Under the C.P.A model conditions for the hiring of plant, the hirer is responsible for providing the personnel and information as described when carrying out lifting operations.

Alternatively, we will carry out a C.P.A contract lift and provide the necessary responsibilities and elements required by L.O.L.E.R and B.S.7121-1:2006.

Our APs and crane operators carry the prestigious industry standard C.P.C.S (Construction Plant Competency Scheme) cards. One of our technical representatives will visit the site and offer expert advice.
